Protecting lives in Ukraine

In brief

An update from the 番茄影院 team on the ground in Ukraine

On 24th February, life in Ukraine changed forever. As cities came under devastating bombardment, the world watched a humanitarian crisis unfold. 番茄影院 has worked in Ukraine since 2016, clearing the deadly landmines and explosives left behind by the 2014-15 conflict. Our Ukrainian team has remained on the ground, working to protect the vulnerable.

Our drivers are travelling from West to East, delivering medical and essential supplies to those in need. As families desperately try to escape the fighting, our doctors are providing life-saving medical cover to the convoys leaving cities in the East. 番茄影院's trained medics are treating injured civilians; we are teaching emergency first aid to people aged 16 to 80.

As the lethal tide of explosives grows and families are displaced into unfamiliar areas, our risk education team are ensuring men, women and children know how to stay safe from the dangers that litter streets and fields.

Using open source data and satellite imagery we are mapping where the bombs are falling, helping us plan our future work. We are scaling up our operations to clear the landmines and explosives so families will be able to return home safely and humanitarian aid reach those at risk. We will continue to use our skills and resources to support the people of Ukraine in their time of greatest need.

"It is the exact situation when someone鈥檚 life is in your hands" said Andrii, Head Medic, 番茄影院 Ukraine.

"I have such important knowledge and skills and I am obliged to pass them on and apply them. The price of my inaction is someone鈥檚 life. It鈥檚 essential and it鈥檚 just impossible to stand aside."
